Bug#644588: gle-graphics: FTBFS: Message: /usr/lib/libgle-graphics-4.2.2.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

2011-10-19 Thread Petr Salinger

There is a /proc/self/exe support under GNU/kFreeBSD, but it is
limited, namely inside combination of bind mounts and chroots.

What's the problem with /proc/self/exe anyway? It works fine here,
even inside chroots.

Did you nullfs-mount /proc?

No, I expect that the problem is when the executable
is inside bind mounted dir and there is some chroot setting.
The exact setup of buildd is unknown to me.

When doing

I get build errors. The file fuse.h is not found during compilation.
Installing package libfuse-dev seems to fix the problem. There seems to
be a missing build dependency on libfuse-dev in source package

Bug#645881: critical update 29 available

2011-10-19 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Package: sun-java6
Severity: grave
Tags: security

Hi,

Upstream has released Java SE 6 update 29 yesterday:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/javacpuoct2011-443431.html
with security fixes.

Because some of the fixes, like for BEAST, are very high-profile, perhaps an
update through stable-updates can be arranged with the SRM instead of waiting
for the next point release? In any case a speedy fix of sid+wheezy would be
helpful.

thanks,
Thijs

Well, that especially means that it is now time to consider the removal
of sun-java6 from Debian.

We, the distros, are no longer allowed by Oracle to redistribute this

The OpenJDK (6 or 7) is now the way to go.

About stable, I don't know what the security team would recommend
here ?!

I can personally recommend the openjdk from other work I'm doing. The
improvement in the packaging alone justifies the switch for software
maintainers, but it's also worked well under load for me with Ant and
JBoss tests I've done recently.

Bug#614289: Patch for kernel 2.6.38-2

2011-10-19 Thread Luka Marčetić

Trying to make in testing and sid hangs.
In sid (same package version afaik), I've tried two other methods of
building the thing, suggested by package's README.Debian, they failed as
well.
I've tried the patch - it is applied successfully, but fails to fix the
problem.

Bug#645881: critical update 29 available

2011-10-19 Thread Florian Weimer
* Thijs Kinkhorst:

Upstream has released Java SE 6 update 29 yesterday:
 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/javacpuoct2011-443431.html
 with security fixes.

Does the lack of a DLJ version affect us? The special distributor
license is no longer available from Oracle:

| As a consequence, further Oracle JDK 6 (or Oracle JDK 7) releases on
| Linux and Solaris will not be provided under the DLJ. They will
| continue to be provided under the familiar Oracle JDK license, the
| BCL.

http://robilad.livejournal.com/90792.html

I'm not sure if the standard JDK license agreement is sufficient.

Bug#638835: bastille: won't work without ipchains

2011-10-19 Thread Marcos Marado
This bug should be retitled to doesn't work with Linux Kernel = 3.0.
The bug still exists in the latest version, I've just opened a bug upstream:

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=3425889group_id=403atid=100403

The problem is that there's code wanting to check if the kernel is = 2.3, but
the code is:

if [ -n $(uname -r | awk -F. ' $1 == 2  $2  2 {print}') ]; then

so the check fails for version 3.*...

Here's a patch fixing it:

Bug#642929: status update

2011-10-19 Thread Rolf Leggewie
severity 642929 normal
retitle 642929 scim does not work in iceweasel
thank you

Pascal,

this issue should be mostly dealt with by now with the recent sync of
gtk+2.0 to testing. In the next scim upload I will also include changes
as proposed by Leo in this ticket. The issues you are seeing with
iceweasel need further investigation. Overall, this is no longer an
RC-blocker, adjusting severity.

Best regards

Rolf Leggewie

2011-10-19 Thread Matthias Klose
On 10/19/2011 02:09 PM, Thijs Kinkhorst wrote:
Have we been in contact with Oracle upstream and explained that we are
eager to comply with their wish to move entirely to openjdk for our next
release, but have the problem that we have a stable release out in the
field that people rely on? Are there possibilities to extend the offer for
the lifetime of stable, or at least until it becomes oldstable?

there's nothing which hinders you to still have the current version in stable.
The license isn't changed for the existing package. It's up to the
security/release teams to decide if they want to have a version with known
security issues in the stable release (in the past the security team didn't care
about this at all for the current oldstable).

This has the effect that su -c ... can no longer be used to call

The rest looks like it could work. But I would not call myself a specialist

The last sentence applies to comment 46, too.

I do not really want to argue about bug severity here - this assessment is
better left to you. I did however use su in the past in non-interactive

documented, again... ;-)

there's nothing which hinders you to still have the current version in
 stable.
The license isn't changed for the existing package. It's up to the
security/release teams to decide if they want to have a version with known
security issues in the stable release

I understand that, and I think the situation where we keep something in
unstable while refraining from publishing security updates is undesirable.

What I'm wondering is if we tried to ask upstream whether they would be
willing to extend the DLJ offer so we can keep security fixes for the
sun-java6 version in stable coming in for the lifetime of this release,
notwithstanding the fact that we're removing it from the next release.

(in the past the security team
didn't care about this at all for the current oldstable).

I don't know what this refers to, but it doesn't seem relevant because
we're talking about the present.

Well, that especially means that it is now time to consider the removal
 of sun-java6 from Debian.

We, the distros, are no longer allowed by Oracle to redistribute this
 version [1] [2].
The OpenJDK (6 or 7) is now the way to go.

About stable, I don't know what the security team would recommend
 here ?!

Well, stable is supposed to be stable. I'm all for removal of sun-java6
from unstable and hence not including it in wheezy, but we've released
stable with the expectations for users that they can run it for its
lifetime without large disruptions. While software has been removed from
stable as a last resort, it really should be the last resort.

Could this be discussed on the cross-distro list?

Well, non-free used to be unsupported security-wise AFAIK. doko is right
that the security team still didn't care in the present, though, as the
updates were through p-u and not the security archive. That said I'm glad
that somebody stepped up and did the updates that were possible.

There might be one other option, but one I probably wouldn't be happy with
due to it probably being impossible to review: improve openjdk in stable enough
to replace sun-java6.

Apart from this it's either a DSA telling people that it contains known
flaws (if they're critical enough) and that there will be no further
security updates. OTOH the updates didn't pass security anyway because
there's no non-free there. Or it's the removal of the package. Or
we simply don't care because it's freaking non-free and people are
supposed to use it in secure environments with a grain of salt.

Please request a binNMU to resolve this conflict, and badger upstream to
implement --without-readline and --without-ncurses options for
`configure' so that this does not happen again if afflib is built in an
unclean environment.

First of all thanks for that.

Apparently, goobox already has an updated version in experimental.
Please upload that version to unstable as soon as possible.

Actually, I feel a little annoyed here. A new upstream version of
goobox required the new version of brasero which was only in
experimental at that time, so I uploaded to experimental and filed a
bug against brasero (629566) in June requesting an upload to unstable. This
  bug was never even acknowledged.

I think both bigon and I commented, so it is not true, that there was no
 acknowledgement or communication.

Well, I cannot see anything in the bug logs. Thanks anyway for your
explanation.

Anyhow, returning to the issue at hand, I try to build current goobox,
however, it requires an even newer gtk:
Requested 'gtk+-3.0 = 3.2.0' but version of GTK+ is 3.0.12

sigh /

I'll talk to upstream about this, maybe I have to build the second
latest version for unstable :-((

So the upload unfortunately still may take some time ...

Greetings

   Helge

Bug#645264: Needs update for GNOME 3 / brasero 3

2011-10-19 Thread Michael Biebl
Am 19.10.2011 21:59, schrieb Helge Kreutzmann:

Anyhow, returning to the issue at hand, I try to build current goobox,
however, it requires an even newer gtk:
 Requested 'gtk+-3.0 = 3.2.0' but version of GTK+ is 3.0.12

Can't you just upload the version from experimental to unstable and update to
the latest goobox when gtk 3.2 is available (which currently looks like it
will be *after* the GNOME 3 transition.)

The version from experimental seems to have built fine on all archs and would
just need a simple re-upload to unstable with minimum effort.

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#645941: python-gtkglext1: missing dependency on python-gtk2

2011-10-19 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: python-gtkglext1
Version: 1.1.0-7
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

It's not possible to import the modules python-gtkglext1 provides if
python-gtk2 is not installed. Therefore, it should depend on it.

it is fixed in experimental version, need to sort out klibc stuff after

Hi,

the Debian GNOME team is preparing the upload of nautilus 3 to
unstable.

The API of libnautilus-extension hasn't changed, but it builds
against GTK 3 now which changes its ABI, so the binary package name
was changed to libnautilus-extension1a.

Linking to both GTK 2 and GTK 3 in the same process is not supported
[1] and applications will abort. As a result, updating your package
for nautilus 3 means updating it to GTK 3.

nautilus 3 / libnautilus-extension 3 packages are available from
experimental. Please update and test your package against this
version and ideally upload it to experimental, too. This way, when we
start the transition, the package can be moved to unstable more
easily.

On behalf of the Debian GNOME team,

Michael Biebl

Severity: serious
User: pkg-gnome-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: nautilus3-transition

Hi,

this package currently depends on python-nautilus - most likely because
it provides an extension for the nautilus file manager.

As part of the GNOME 3 transition nautilus 3 has been upload to unstable
In this version, the extensions interface has changed, and kupfer
requires changes to support this version:
 * porting to GTK+ 3
 * porting from PyGTK to the GObject Introspection mechanism

You might want to check if upstream developers provide a new version,
compatible with nautilus 3.x. Otherwise, porting is a feasible task if
you have a few hours to spare. If you feel like it, the following guides
should help you:
 * http://live.gnome.org/PyGObject/IntrospectionPorting
 * http://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/gtk-migrating-2-to-3.html

Packages that remain unported will have to be removed from testing
eventually.

Cheers

Bug#638074: apt-watch and the ongoing GNOME 3 transition

2011-10-19 Thread Michael Biebl
Hi John,

as you might have noticed, the GNOME 3 transition is now ongoing in unstable.
Could you please upload apt-watch 0.4.0 from experimental to unstable now as
otherwise apt-watch will block this transition.

In case you are currently busy, I can offer to NMU, if you are ok with that.

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#618904: Slapd hangs when creating new groups with GOsa

2011-10-19 Thread Pawel Wilk
Package: slapd
Version: 2.4.23-7.2
Severity: important

Slapd hangs when creating groups with GOsa. The only way
to restart the slapd is then to kill it with SIGKILL
and run the service it again.

The mentioned groups are RFC2307bis compliant objects
based on the object classes:

- groupOfNames,
- posixGroup.

They require at least one member attribute (2.5.4.31)
and if there is no member to add (i.e. because group is a POSIX
primary group refered only by gidNumber in user objects) then DN
of the very same group object is used.

So in case of DN: cn=group1,ou=groups,dc=my,dc=org
The group will have the initial member set to: cn=group1,ou=groups,dc=my,dc=org

I also have memberof module and overlay enabled (with refint) for
member and uniqueMember attributes.

The version from experimental seems to have built fine on all archs and would
just need a simple re-upload to unstable with minimum effort.

And thanks in advance. We do know that the switch to GNOME 3 is a bumpy ride

 Hello!

Alot of people (me included) are having problems with logging into gnome
in unstable now that the 3.0 migration has started.
(I was running 3.0 from experimental before and for some reason didn't
 have the problem there.weird.)
When logging into gnome it says Oh no! A problem has occured. The system
can not recover... because gnome-settings-daemon crashes.

Anyway... I debugged my problem a bit and found that the same problem
had previously been handled in ubuntu, please see:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/orbit2/+bug/788710

Apparently orbit2 is causing gnome-settings-daemon to crash, fixed
by the patch mentioned in the above bug report and included in the
ubuntu package (which also updates the package to a new upstream
bugfix release which might not be a bad idea.)

Would be awesome if you could have a look at updating the package in Debian!

Let's turn this into a proper bug report. As this breaks unrelated packages,
I'm filing with RC severity especially as this is a very often reported bug.

Sebastian, in case you are busy we (the GNOME team) can prepare an NMU as we
want to see this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Please let us know what you prefer.
If I don't hear back anything, I'd prepare an upload tomorrow and upload it to
DELAYED/2.

Cheers,
Michael
