Bug#802704: calibre: FTBFS due to missing libraries to link to

2015-10-22 Thread Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer
Source: calibre
Version: 2.38.0+dfsg-1
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS

Hi! Musescore has started to FTBFS in the latest rebuild against Qt5 [ftbfs]

[ftbfs]

The issue seems to be missing dependencies to link against:

g++ -m64 -Wl,--no-undefined -Wl,-O1 -shared -o libheadless.so
headless_backingstore.o headless_integration.o main.o fontconfig_database.o
-L/usr/X11R6/lib64 -lQt5PlatformSupport -lfontconfig -lfreetype -lQt5DBus
-lgthread-2.0 -pthread -lglib-2.0 -lXrender -lXext -lX11 -lm -linput
-lxkbcommon -ludev -lmtdev -lEGL -lQt5Gui -lQt5Core -lGL -lpthread -lglib-2.0
-lfontconfig -lfreetype
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -linput
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lxkbcommon

I can only think in Qtbase's private stuff changing linking requirements.

2015-10-22 Thread mario_luppi

 Hello everyone.
Sorry if I write not with reportbug.
I have the same problem of Andreas Metzler but unlike him i do not have

I tried to force the installation of libpam-systemd but the situation
has

not changed.
I understand that I have not provided "many" info.
Thanks anyway in advance.

We should also ask for the removal of monav, it's no longer developed
upstream and broken in Debian since the switch to mapnik 3.0.

Jérémy & David, please share your thoughts about monav in Debian.

Ah, that would explain it. Changing it to -1 does work (I guess the default
config should be changed as well, and perhaps a NEWS.Debian entry for those
using modified configs?)

Bug#802354: Help needed: Bug#802354: python-matplotlib-venn: FTBFS: AttributeError: can't set attribute

2015-10-22 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

I have no idea why this package now fails to build but was building
before. No helpful response from debian-python list so far. I opened
an issue at Github but upstream needs time to reproduce and I hope that
this might be a know issue to others here on this list.

Any hint would be welcome

 Andreas.

Bug#802706: slepc: FTBFS: Unable to link with PETSc

2015-10-22 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: slepc
Version: 3.6.1.dfsg1-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Builds of slepc in minimal environments (such as on the autobuilders)
have been failing with errors of the form

  Checking environment... done
  Checking PETSc installation...
ERROR: Unable to link with PETSc
  ERROR: See "installed-i386-linux-gnu-real/lib/slepc/conf/configure.log" file

dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules binary-arch gave error exit

I was able to reproduce the problem on a porterbox (amd64, as it
happens), and found the issue to be that it was explicitly linking
against libraries that were neither direct nor indirect build
dependencies:

  mpicxx -Wl,-z,relro -Wl,--no-as-needed -g -O2 -fstack-protector-strong
-Wformat -Werror=format-security -g -O2 -fstack-protector-strong -Wformat

  /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lssl
  /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lcrypto
  /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgfortran

Could you please take a look? Given that Debian builds PETSc as a
shared library, it shouldn't be necessary to list any other libraries
on the command line. However, if the build system makes that hard to
avoid, please compensate by listing libgfortran-5-dev and libssl-dev
in Build-Depends. (It's unfortunate that there's no generic
libgfortran-dev, though I suppose you could list gfortran.)

Either way, please confirm with pbuilder or the like that there aren't
any further errors in minimal environments.

Thanks!

Package: ntp
Version: 1:4.2.8p4+dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

As per subject. This may well be a duplicate of #793745, however:

- I am using the default ntp.conf shipped with the package, including the
  "rlimit memlock 0" line.

- Downgrading to 4.2.8p3+dfsg-1 fixes the problem.

So I am not sure this is the same underlying cause. Please downgrade/merge as
appropriate if I am wrong about this.

Bug#802665: augeas-lenses: httpd lens is broken in 1.2

Package: augeas-lenses
Version: 1.2.0-0.2

Justification: httpd lens is broken in 1.2

Dear Maintainer,

I have learned that augeas-lenses v1.2 includes a broken httpd lens. In
particular, the 1.2 lens throws errors when an httpd config happens to end with
a comment. This is causing trouble for several other projects.

This issue is fixed in upstream version 1.4.

Package: tix
Version: 8.4.3-5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

it looks like tix in Jessie is compiled against tk-8.5 whereas the default
version is tk-8.6 which will make it completely unusable for applications
written in Perl, Python or Ruby and probably break any existing Tcl/Tk app that
uses Tix, unless it explicitely requests to use wish8.5 .
A brief example that shows the problem:

$ wish8.6
% package require Tix
8.4.3
% tixFileSelectBox .f
..f
% pack .f
% Speicherzugriffsfehler # (i.e. segmentation fault)

$ wish8.5
% package require Tix
8.4.3
% tixFileSelectBox .f
..f
% pack .f # it works!

Regards

Michael

Hi! You updated your system during qtbase's 5.5.1 private headers transition.
That got you at least kwin removed from your system (and some
frameworkintegration package too), and I'm sure apt warned you about that.

Please try again tomorrow (you might need to fix your system). If you happen
to find any other bugs after that, please do not hesitate in filing a new bug.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'sid' to 'experimental'.
It installed fine in 'sid', then the upgrade to 'experimental' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.

the package is missing build dependencies on python3-pyzolib and python3-pyqt4,
but even with these the package still fails the tests. Note the odd warning

Hi Thomas,

As you know, we need a minimal fix backported for the current version in
Debian Stable. Could you send a patch for that version? The version in
Jessie is: 1.9.20140610. I can upgrade the Sid/Testing version to last
upstream release though.

Cheers,

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install
because it tries to overwrite other packages files:

  Selecting previously unselected package python-wxglade.

site.py sounds like a very generic name and probably should not be
shipped by any package.

Bug#802544: Xorg.wrap move to xorg-legacy broke X startup (permissions)

2015-10-22 Thread Scott Mcdermott

> > That would surely be a regression. Debian went

Ok, my mistake; I inferred from being able to "pkill X"
successfully as ordinary user, that it was not running
as root. It turns out that while X runs with ruid=user
(which allows kill(2) to work), it retains euid=0 still
the whole time. Thank you for your correction.

However, since I'm running KMS, I don't understand why
root is needed (ignoring the tty permission issue -- I
could make easily make a group for this) in the first
place?

I found three places which make me think this is both
possible and was working at some point:

1. I found a trivial patch[1] that was in both Ubuntu
and ChromeOS before, which added a '-nohwaccess'
flag to Xorg, which basically just no-oped
xf86EnableIOPorts, and it seemed to work fine for
   people before...

2. I also found a mailing list post[2] indicating that
Gentoo Hardened removed ioperm(2) and iopl(2) from
their kernel entirely and X still ran fine (with
KMS) once it was told to continue (ignore the
   error).

3. it looks like Xorg itself merged a fix[3][4] to
ignore hardware I/O port error, based on comments[5]
   by keithp.

Why can't '-nohwaccess' flag be added to the X server
(I'll handle device node permissions myself)?
Alternatively, why not just have X drop privs via
setreuid() after it does whatever it thinks it has to
with the hardware?

Also, how does systemd-logind do this? It must have
euid=0 itself do the iopl, unless there is some magic
trick?

Please do not force me to install systemd. I realize I
can run the X server as root, but there seems to be a
trivial way to make it so that those of us who don't
use systemd (but still use Debian) don't have to run
our X server as root either.

Are you using sysvinit by chance, i.e. logind is not working on your system?

I've raised the severity as it will break most ppls desktop and now ppl should
get warned through apt-listbug

I do have Recommends enabled, but libqt5xcbqpa5 did not get installed and that
broke my Plasma Desktop rather severly. Installing that package fixed it.
This bug was pointed out to me so I found the solution rather quickly, but
others probably won't be so lucky. And now that ppl should get warned, that
would hopefully reduce the flooding of bug reports ;-)

This is the continuation of #800660 (that I failed to re-open). There's
still something fishy in gnome-keyring and I have filed this upstream.

Have a look at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=756865 for
details.

Hi,

a test with piuparts revealed that your package misses the copyright
file after an upgrade, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

After the upgrade /usr/share/doc/$PACKAGE/ is just an empty directory.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  stretch -> sid

https://wiki.debian.org/MissingCopyrightFile

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.14)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.mainstscript.
Do not forget to add 'Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends}' in d/control.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

cheers,

Andreas

The 0.13 dh-elpa install scripts explicitly blacklists (well, really
ignores) emacs23, but they don't know about emacs22. It seems like
kindof a corner case to me (since emacs22 isn't in oldoldstable), but I
don't mind also blacklisting emacs22 (and emacs21 for that matter).

Bug#800322: 9.10.2 vmhgfs update to 9.10.3

2015-10-22 Thread Robert Jennings
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

The driver should be updated for all releases, even those where it
currently builds. Beyond the kernel compilation failures, running
with the vmhgfs driver from the 9.10.2 code can result in data
corruption. The backport of the driver from 10.0.0 to 9.10.3 resolves
the data corruption issue as well as addressing the kernel compilation
failures for 4.1 and 4.2 kernels.

Robert Jennings

Hello,

bouncycastle 1.49 in stable/testing/unstable (and 1.44 in wheezy/squeeze)
is vulnerable to an invalid curve attack as described here:
https://web-in-security.blogspot.ca/2015/09/practical-invalid-curve-attacks.html

This is fixed in version 1.51 (in experimental).

The upstream patches that fix this issue should be those ones:

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.7+12
Priority: Important

Since installing updates last night in some VMs, I can no longer load
gnome in those VMs.

They load to a terminal login (normally would auto-load gnome), which
is flashing on and off the screen rapidly, with text input to login
being very difficult/impossible. This  flashing stops after about a
minute, leaving you at a stable/usable login prompt. After login,
startx fails to load gnome. The xorg log (below) lists a segfault.

Edit: Actually, while retrieving copies of the log files, I ran startx
as root, which worked fine, it just doesn't load as the normal user.

VMs are sid installs, fully up to date, with a handful of core gnome
packages from experimental (gdm3, gnome-shell, gnome-session, mutter,
gnome-setting-daemon, nautilus).

Things were working fine the previous day, prior to the latest updates.
The updates installed resulting in the breakage are as follows:

Dear Maintainer,

The attached patch adds arm64 support as described in the Debian wiki:

https://wiki.debian.org/Arm64Port#Porting_packages_for_arm64_-_Maintainer_info

I've tested this on a arm64 chroot and it builds without error now.

Hi Chris,

FYI, you tested neutron-lbaas from OpenStack Kilo with everything from
Liberty (ie: not matching releases). I've uploaded neutron-lbaas that is
matching the version of Neutron in Sid. It should now work.

Cheers,

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install,
remove (but not purge), and install again.
Before the second installation the package is in config-files-remaining
state. The configuration is remaining from the last version that was
successfully configured - which is the same version that is going to be
installed again.

Like a plain failure on initial install this makes the package too buggy
for a release, thus the severity.
