Please use this | option when cowdancer is interfering with upgrade process, | or cowdancer itself is being upgraded within chroot. ` Apparently this is what you need to use, for cowdancer seems to bring libncurses.so.6 into the address space of every binary on the system, which is "interfering with upgrade process". >> What is this rm binary in your chroot, apparently it >> is linked to libncurses.so.6? > > # which rm > /bin/rm > # dpkg -S /bin/rm > coreutils: /bin/rm > # ldd /bin/rm > linux-vdso.so.1 (0x7ffea75fb000) > /usr/lib/cowdancer/libcowdancer.so (0x7f2e6a6db000) > libc.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x7f2e6a512000) > libdl.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2 (0x7f2e6a50c000) > libncurses.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libncurses.so.6 > (0x7f2e6a4e3000) > libtinfo.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libtinfo.so.6 > (0x7f2e6a4b4000) > /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x7f2e6a6f9000) > # aptitude why libncurses6 > i cowdancer Depends libncurses6 (>= 6) It seems that cowdancer should not link with ncurses in the first place, as it only uses the tinfo library. In fact, rebuilding cowbuilder with a current toolchain that defaults to the "--as-needed" linker flag causes cowbuilder and cowdancer to depend on libtinfo6 only. Cheers, Sven

I'm also thinking about NMU'ing this issue given how long this has been open. Even though the problem here is that the macro is there, but just behind a conditional, I suppose that's still expected? > See the thread at > https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-ncurses/2020-08/threads.html#00017 > for a discussion that motivated this change. I'll check this later, but no matter what, I think it is still worth fixing the dpkg build system to handle this kind of case more robustly. I've prepared the attached patch which seems to work with gcc and clang, and I'll try to upload either later today or tomorrow. Bug#970550: this is a bug in ruby-autoprefixer-rails
Control: reassign -1 ruby-autoprefixer-rails Control: found -1 8.6.5+dfsg-3 After replacing sass-rails, execjs and autoprefixer-rails (taking clues from the error log) with versions from rubygems.org, I found autoprefixer-rails version installed from rubygems.org fixes this issue, so the bug is in ruby-autoprefixer-rails.

Thanks for the report, I have been investigating a bit this issue, libexec_weston was introduced in weston_8, it was created for the purpose of the reset of the test suite so it doesn't need to exec() but just load libexec_weston.so. libexec_weston is not something anyone else should develop against, it is only needed by weston binary. I'll look into dropping /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/weston/libexec_weston.so since weston is linked to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/weston/libexec_weston.so.0 which should be shipped in the weston package. I'm still not sure whose bug this is, but I've found a workaround that libpeas can use (or a fix that can be applied, depending whether this is considered to be a bug in Meson or in libpeas). I'll close the original FTBFS report by fixing or working around this in libpeas; I'm cloning it as a non-RC Meson bug report for investigation of whether Meson is doing the wrong thing. Please see the upstream Meson bug for more details and a somewhat minimal reproducer. Thanks, smcv

Bug#969288: marked as done (src:r-cran-htmltools: fails to migrate to testing for too long: autopkgtest regression)
Your message dated Fri, 18 Sep 2020 09:33:47 + with message-id and subject line Bug#969288: fixed in r-cran-htmltools 0.5.0-2 has caused the Debian Bug report #969288, regarding src:r-cran-htmltools: fails to migrate to testing for too long: autopkgtest regression to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 969288: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=969288 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Source: r-cran-htmltools Version: 0.4.0-2 Severity: serious Control: close -1 0.5.0-1 Tags: sid bullseye User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: out-of-sync Dear maintainer(s), As recently announced [1], the Release Team now considers packages that are out-of-sync between testing and unstable for more than 60 days as having a Release Critical bug in testing. Your package src:r-cran-htmltools in its current version in unstable has been trying to migrate for 60 days [2]. Hence, I am filing this bug. If a package is out of sync between unstable and testing for a longer period, this usually means that bugs in the package in testing cannot be fixed via unstable. Additionally, blocked packages can have impact on other packages, which makes preparing for the release more difficult. Finally, it often exposes issues with the package and/or its (reverse-)dependencies. We expect maintainers to fix issues that hamper the migration of their package in a timely manner. This bug will trigger auto-removal when appropriate. As with all new bugs, there will be at least 30 days before the package is auto-removed. I have immediately closed this bug with the version in unstable, so if that version or a later version migrates, this bug will no longer affect testing. I have also tagged this bug to only affect sid and bullseye, so it doesn't affect (old-)stable. If you believe your package is unable to migrate to testing due to issues beyond your control, don't hesitate to contact the Release Team. Bug#970536: linux-image-5.8.0-1-amd64: ethernet (dhcp) fails to work after reboot
Package: src:linux Version: 5.8.7-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable X-Debbugs-Cc: olau...@gmail.com step to reproduce : - install debian testing a bit old (2020-08) with 5.7 kernel -> ethernet works normally - do the upgrades (which installs 5.8 kernel) - reboot to 5.8 -> ethernet works normally - reboot again on 5.8 -> ethernet not working (device is there, but dhcp fails) strange facts : as you can see, only the 2nd boot to 5.8 is bugged. - coming from a cold start or from windows make the 5.8 ethernet work again - after cold start / coming from windows, 5.7 booting and rebooting works great (so it seems really related to 5.8 kernel) - after 1 (or many) 5.8 boot, 5.7 is also affected. of course, all of that is resetted with a cold start / windows boot so 5.8 seems to put the ethernet chipset in a bad state. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 5.8.0-1-amd64 (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) (gcc-10 (Debian 10.2.0-6) 10.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.35) #1 SMP Debian 5.8.7-1 (2020-09-05) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.8.0-1-amd64 root=UUID=20450dbb-67a2-4dea-9910-c5decc925848 ro quiet splash ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [5.619159] EDAC amd64: Node 0: DRAM ECC disabled.
