I think that both #419617 and #415393 are caused by
uim-common missing a dependancy on libuim5 (= ${binary:Version})

here are patches for two emailalert problems.
The first patch fixes things so that email will no longer be
sent if no address is specified. It also cleans up the logic a bit.
The second patch adds global emailalert and emailalertfreq parameters,
that can be overriden by the existing
(or someone else) gets a chance to investigate further.
If worst comes to worse, email alearts can just be stripped out
of the ldirectord source code. But I doubt anything that drastic
is required.

thanks for reporting this bug. We are already tracking it
as 308724 and 308634 for 2.6.8 and a separate bug for 2.4.27.
A fix is also pending for 2.6.11.

I have added this fix to both kernel-source-2.6.8 and
kernel-source-2.6.11 in SVN and it should appear in the
next release.
If someone has a chance to test the build for ppc and ia64 that would be
great.
