Bug#982636: cheese: creates invalid and extremely long video files

2021-02-12 Thread Sergio Villar Senin
Package: cheese
Version: 3.38.0-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Open cheese and record a video.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Record a video. Stop the recording. Double click on the thumbnail to
play the video.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

1. During the recording the video freezes after some seconds.
2. The video length shown in the UI is nonsensical, after some seconds
it shows 19 minutes.
3. The generated video is absurdly long (like the 19 minutes mentioned
before) and it's empty, it shows nothing.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Recording should be fine.

That made it. I upgraded gnome-shell to unstable version and the

Bug#909770: gdm3: Does not show the list of users and fails to start any session

Note that I've reproduced today this very same issue with lightdm as
well, so I guess this is the confirmation that the bug is somewhere
else. Graphics drivers maybe?

That's correct

I basically started without plyumouth enabled and the screen becomes
black with the cursor in the top left corner of the screen. At that
point I tried to attach an external screen, and guess what? then I
could see the VTs in F2,F3... and in F1 there was the gray background
(nothing else just that) from gdm.

After resuming everything seems to work fine and I haven't seen any
error in the journal.

Not a single one. The last warning appears just after the
"/usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[3172]: (II) modeset(0)" lines.

This is the boot log https://pastebin.com/PiwQdiR2

I don't see anything specially wrong there except these lines:

laptop kernel: [drm:intel_dp_start_link_train [i915]] *ERROR*
[CONNECTOR:71:eDP-1] Link Training failed at link rate = 27, lane
count = 2

BTW I noticed that it is possible to enter the session by following the
next steps:
1- Boot
2- Nothing is shown. Press power button to suspend
3- Resume laptop. gdm is shown
4- Enter credentials. Succeeds.
5- Nothing is shown. Press power button to suspend
6- Resume laptop. GNOME session is opened and working normally

That's why I think it's probably the same bug although I am no longer
sure it's a gdm3 issue, perhaps something related to the intel drivers.

Bug#909770: gdm3: Does not show the list of users and fails to start any session

2018-09-27 Thread Sergio Villar Senin
Package: gdm3
Version: 3.30.1-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

The problem appeared on 3.30 and is still a problem in 3.30.1

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Boot the computer, then wait for the login screen (gdm) to appear.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

The background of the plyumouth theme is shown but the list of
users is not there as expected.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

The normal list of users from gdm.

Sometimes I press the power button and the system suspends to
RAM. When resuming then the gdm login screen is there, *but* if I try to
enter any session (GNOME) it does not work. The authentication seems
to succeed but then the screen becomes blank and there is no
possibility to even switch to the terminals via Ctr-Alt-Fx.

I'm now using lightdm which works fine.

Bug#841057: epiphany-browser: does not retrieve saved username/passwords

2016-10-17 Thread Sergio Villar Senin
Package: epiphany-browser
Version: 3.22.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Open a webpage for which you have previously saved a user/password pair
and set the cursor on the username field

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Epiphany is not showing the popup on the user field with the available
usernames. It is not obviously also autocompleting the password field.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

The browser should show a popup with the different usernames saved for
that hostname. Upon selecting one, it should autocomplete the password field.
