 no, still the same:

Oct 31 00:11:08 varda dovecot: imap-login: Can't load certificate file
 /etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem: error:25066067:DSO support
routines:DLFCN_LOAD:could not load the shared library
Oct 31 00:11:08 varda dovecot: child 30969 (login) returned error 89

That's with libpq4 8.0.4-2 which is linked against openssl 0.9.8.
Installing zlib1g-dev (or manually creating a libz.so symlink) still
 makes the problem go away.

You're right, it's still the same, and I had zlib1g-dev installed
again. I always forget to remove it before I try something.

I've reopened it.

I haven't figured out why yet though.

One thing that I should have seen much earlier is that it also
has an indirect dependency on libssl0.9.7. libpq (from
postgresql-8.0) is still linked to libssl0.9.7 which is causing
the problems. After relinking it to the new libssl0.9.8 it's
fixed.

On all other arches it was linked against the latest libssl0.9.8.

I'll request an binNMU of postgresql-8.0 to get this fixed.

do you by chance have zlib1g-dev installed on your system? The problem
here is (as has been pointed out previously somewhere in this bug log)
that something tries to load libz.so for some reason, which only fails
if you don't have zlib1g-dev.

Yes, I have it installed, since it's a build dependency for the
package. I'll try again later.

Confirmed ;)

ii dovecot-imapd 1.0.alpha3-2.0.1
ii openssl 0.9.8a-2
ii zlib1g-dev1.2.3-4

and dovecot works as it should.

I've been trying to reproduce this, but I can't. Everything

 'all:!LOW': error:25066067:DSO support routines:DLFCN_LOAD:could not load the
 shared library

That should be ALL:!LOW (as someone has pointed out already I
think.)

Can someone please try to explain me how I should reproduce the
error?

I've set everything up, set up a fetchmail to connect to it, and
it's all working like it should.

Bug#334180: dovecot-omapd: All IMAP logings are non-functional after upgrade

2005-10-22 Thread Jari Aalto
Package: dovecot
Followup-For: Bug #334180

To join the crowd with the previous poster, one thing must be cleared:

  dovecot-common/testing uptodate 1.0.alpha3-2.0.1
  dovecot-imapd/testing uptodate 1.0.alpha3-2.0.1

Going back to testing won't help, because it's the testing where
this is broken in my server. Please provide fix ASAP since all IMAP
accounts are out of use currently. The /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf reads:

# SSL ciphers to use
ssl_cipher_list = all:!LOW

And the error in /var/log/mail.warn reads:

Oct 23 01:18:45 cante dovecot: imap-login: Can't set cipher list to 'all:!LOW':
error:25066067:DSO support routines:DLFCN_LOAD:could not load the shared library

I regenerated my certs with mkcerts.sh, but it didn't solve the problem.

See BUG#334180 in the Debian BTS.
I solved the problem with downgrading the dovecot from the official,
 stable(sarge) debian repository.

that will take you all the way down to 0.99.14. I recommend using the
version of 1.0alpha3 from testing instead until this gets sorted out.

Btw, this is the problem. -2.0.1 was a non-maintainer upload to get
dovecot depending on openssl 0.9.8. Apparently the openssl maintainer has
compiled 0.9.8 in such a way that the engines are plugins. dovecots login
process chroots and the plugins are not available in the chroot so you get
that error message.

Most likely the fix will be to have openssl link everything in statically.
Then dovecot will magically start working again.
