Bug#756709: redis-server: fails to start

2014-08-03 Thread Norbert Preining
Hi Chris,

sorry for the late answer, I was of in the mountains of backcountry
Japan for few days ;-)

redis-server[25874]: Can't open the log file: Permission denied

 Sorry about that, there was a permissions/systemd-related fix and it was
 obviously incomplete. However, I don't use systemd (yet). Can you send
 me the output of your:

  $ ls -al /var/log/redis

total 4
drwxr-xr-x 1 redis redis   32 Jul 31 08:41 ./
drwxr-xr-x 1 root  root  1072 Aug  1 09:51 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 root  root  2006 Jul 31 09:07 redis-server.log

All the best

Norbert

me the output of your:

 $ ls -al /var/log/redis

(NB. with -a)

That way I can update the postinst to fix this.

Bug#756709: redis-server: fails to start

2014-07-31 Thread Norbert Preining
Package: redis-server
Version: 2:2.8.13-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi

the recent upgrade to redis-server rendered it unusable, as it seems
to be able to start. The error message I found in the guts of
systemd is:
  redis-server[25874]: Can't open the log file: Permission denied
I have installed redis-server a few days ago the irst time, and
at that time it was able to start. Only the update changed the
status.

Thanks

Norbert
