Checked it, when python-libxmp is available didjvu prefers it as default_backend over pyexiv2. For the new package (0.6.1-1) I've just removed the deps on python-pyexiv2 for now until exiv2 gets fixed, the tests just skip that when it's missing. I'm going to unblock this bug so that it could be
