I'm experiencing the same issue.
With both 1.0.25-1 (sid) and 1.0.25+git20150927-1 (experimental), the
output of sane-find-scanner detects my scanner:

found USB scanner (vendor=0x05ac [Apple Inc.], product=0x828f
[Bluetooth USB Host Controller]) at libusb:001:006
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [HP], product=0x7111 [Photosmart
C5300 series]) at libusb:001:010
However, with 1.0.25-1 the output of scanimage -L is blank, and with
1.0.25+git20150927-1 the output of scanimage -L is:
scanimage -L
device `hpaio:/usb/Photosmart_C5300_series?serial=MY89Q5702P054V'
is a Hewlett-Packard Photosmart_C5300_series all-in-one
