Lenny and upgrading to Squeeze is really a problem, please drop a mail
at the security mailinglist. Making this fix is a lot of work, we will
only do it when there are enough people who really need it.

Maybe there is no useable local backend, but this package is very
usefull for the remote driver. So I think this is not a grave bug but
a normal bug. You could even see it as a wishlist bug, because what
you want is support for Iceweasel.

They are NOT encyrpted and sende
thout a problem, it gives
warnings while decrypting. And it looks-like it encrypts, but it sent
plain text.
When I install it from Mozilla, it has the same problem on my machine, I
am now back to Thunderbird 45 as a work-arround, what works fine.

First I did not understand this fix. But now I see the new version is in
proposed-updates. So it's in the queue for the new Debian 9.6.

As a workarround you can install gnupg from backports and enigmail from
testing. I guess Daniel will also backport Enigmail 2.0.8 now it's in
testing.
