I was able to successfully make a DVD using jigdo today from
ftp://ftp.fsn.hu/pub/CDROM-Images/debian-unofficial/sid-dvd/
It boots but apparently there isn't any SCSI controller support, Adaptec
Aic7xxx or Buslogic(vmware) so can't really go farther.

link. You can get Jigdo here.. or if you have a
Debian install it is included in Woody.

There are three jigdo images on ftp://ftp.fsn.hu/. What are the contents
of these images ? Does Sarge, i386 packages only, fit on one 4.7gb
dvd-r?
TIA

it compiled into the kernel, it should 'just' work. I
just loaded Woody into a Vm guest, I skipped the select network driver
part go directly to configure network.

Any ideas ?
I think that scsi module is available on the 'bf24' kernel option. In
case you haven't tried this, press 'F3 at the first boot screen to see
additional available kernels.

BTW, As of last night the MD5SUMs-DVD didn't have a checksum for this
iso, afaikt, I am having some text rendering issues though in some KDE3
apps.

,afaik it is not the program to
use to download packages build a Woody iso. I use the 'jigdo-lite'
command and follow the prompts. works well here.

What I do is mount the Woody image as a loop device, then when
jigdo-lite asks for files to scan I point it at the loop device, it
scans the files then asks for more files to scan, at which time I point
it at a Debian mirror.
