This is not a well supported method. Just use dd to write a netinst or a DVD image straight to the stick and then boot from it directly. dd if=debian-10.5.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M oflag=sync status=progress That will put a bootable partition on the stick and then the install will
