So three states... does that make fading up/down out of the question? You could come up with some interesting visuals if you can fade between your three colors. Have them all cycle green up/down, amber up/down, red up/down... all at different rates and intervals. It could be all throbbing...

Hi everybody, I'm writing a test program for the leds on a network box that my company is building and I was looking for suggestions/ideas on a test that would be cool and flashy. We want to run it at trade shows and stuff. I was thinking of something like blinking SOS. Thanks, Andy -- Andrew

With a vertical bar of 7 or 8 LEDs, present a scan of the matrix of the characters in the message you wish to present. Ideally there should also be a row of lights or some other object that the eyes would track past your column of LEDs. What you'd get is a message that would appear then someone
