So three states... does that make fading up/down out of the question? You
could come up with some interesting visuals if you can fade between your
three colors. Have them all cycle green up/down, amber up/down, red
up/down... all at different rates and intervals. It could be all throbbing...

I'm writing a test program for the leds on a network box that my company
is building and I was looking for suggestions/ideas on a test that would
be cool and flashy. We want to run it at trade shows and stuff. I was
thinking of something like blinking SOS.

I don't believe the morse alphabet has semicolons, parens, amperstands,
etc... You could probably use the symbols that do exist to hack out a
base-32 encoding
