   Package name: plait
        Version: 1.5.2
Upstream Author: Stephen Jungels
            URL: http://stephenjungels.com/jungels.net/projects/plait/
        License: GPL
    Language(s): Bourne Shell and Awk
Description: Plait (pronounced "play") is a command-line jukebox and music
player
front end. It understands brief, easy to type queries that pick a
single song, mix queries that combine works from multiple artists,
stream queries that find Shoutcast radio streams, and everything in
 between.
 .
A variety of filters are available to pick just the music you want
to hear. In order to actually play the music it finds, Plait
automatically hands off a play list to one of the supported music
players (or you can use it manually with any player that supports
 .m3u playlists).

An upload to mentors.debian.org is in the works. If you install it, try 'plait
-s goonshow' ;-) .

I am a newcomer to Debian maintainership. Plait appears to be relatively
straightforward to package and so should be good for starting the journey.

I've contacted Stephen Jungels (the upstream author) and while Plait is not
being actively developed at the moment, he is willing to consider bug fixes and
feature requests.

Cheers, Dave.
