Here is the appropriate fix:

emacs should not only provide info-browser and mail-reader, but news-reader

When encountering NIS overide entries (like +kubla::) while changing
a local password, the programm will fill the empty fields with the string

Package: ncftp
Version: 2.3.0-6
This package has neither manual nor info pages. It also does install the
copyright file as /usr/doc/ncftp/copyright instead of /usr/doc/copyright/ncftp.
I can't duplicate this. On my system, `+kubla::' gets replaced
with `+kubla::0:0:::'. People knowledgable about NIS told me that was
ok.
My bug-report was inaccurate:
It happens when passwd encounters a +kubla entry (without colons).
Then it will insert something like:
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.1
dpkg-buildpackage fails to build packages with binary data files in the source
tree because dpkg-source bails out when doing the diffs. This prevents the
build of the kbd package.
I think a refile should be done, because (at least to my knowledge) the
usage of [+-]login as NIS notation is widespread.
Pleas note that this also happens when there are netgroup entries and
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
is a legal netgroup entry.

This happens with the kbd package which has a file with a Unicode-encoded

I think you should look at this issue a bit differently. In one

Could you please check the version 1.2.14-1 if it occurs as well? (I am not

Thanks,

No, i mean sysnews. For two reasons:
a) it is not sysv specific (you will find it on *bsd as well)
b) thats how the package used to be called before i renamed it to news

Could you please check that this is still true in the latest release?
