These files include such things as fvwm, koules and xbill.
There doesn't seem to be any tools specifically for building packages.
I know the source for all the packages is kept under the source
directory, but these files aren't in their subcategory directory.
eg we have
Hi all,
I've noticed something that seems odd to me.
On ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/dists/potato/main/source
theres a bunch of files (.dsc .diff .orig etc) appearing in this
directory.
Is this the correct behaviour? Is this related to the switch to
package pools?
I'm curious because the same thing

Hi, we're looking for somebody to help us with ftp maintainance by
processing new packages from incoming. The procedure is basically
this:
You get a daily email report of new packages in Incoming.
You run lintian on them and check for egregious errors, read the
copyright file to see if
This does not sound like fun, but it sounds necessary. How much time
commitment is required? Must somebody already be a maintainer?

A reasonable amount of time has passed. I'll check a few randomly
selected mirrors and restore the links if all is well.

The link dists/stable - ../bo has disappeared from the ftp archive.
According to the dists/README, this is supposed to be the canonical way
to access the different distributions.
Having something like the stable link disappear without any notice
makes it rather difficult to keep the web pages

Are you sure nothing depends on the older tcl an tk versions?
If so, they need to be updated. We're only going to have 7.6/4.2 and
8.
I'll start running pkg-order on the archive on a regular basis and
file bugs on unmet dependencies.

I had written a script which checks the archive for missing and extra
source and binaries some time ago. I've finally acted on its output.
I've orphaned any old source packages. Some are obviously obsolete
(such as tcl74, tcl75, tk40, tk41). Others are useful but have no
active maintainer.

Apparently there are some commercial packages which are only available
in a.out format, so we ought to at least provide libc4. I don't think
it's necessary to support development.
I agree. I think xcompat should also be provided, for the same reason.
