A little bit of further digging suggests that someone[TM] should file
an RM report for:

libreoffice-gtk2 | 1:6.3.4-2~bpo10+1 | buster-backports | amd64, arm64, armel,
armhf, i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x
uno-libs3| 6.3.4-2~bpo10+1   | buster-backports | amd64, arm64, armel,
armhf, i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x

which appear to be cruft.

Regards,

Adam

$ rmadison libreoffice --suite buster-backports
libreoffice | 1:6.3.4-2~bpo10+1 | buster-backports | source
libreoffice | 1:6.4.5-1~bpo10+1 | buster-backports | source, armel
libreoffice | 1:7.0.1-1~bpo10+2 | buster-backports | source, amd64,
arm64, armhf, i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x

explains already one version: the armel one.

Could this perhaps be a Release-specific attribute that's not present in
every Source index?

I've stumbled another case in buster-backports [1], where Sources has
the following versions of src:libreoffice.

  Version: 1:6.3.4-2~bpo10+1
  Version: 1:6.4.5-1~bpo10+1
  Version: 1:7.0.1-1~bpo10+2

But none of the records have "Extra-Source-Only: yes" set.

I wasn't aware of this field, good to know.

I compiled the list late last night and could have sworn that 2.36-3 is
from unstable, but I guess my eyes were too tired already.

2.33.1-0.1 has "Extra-Source-Only: yes", so one if its binaries is
mentioned in "Built-Using" of some other package.

Same for 2.34-0.1.

2.36-3 is the current version in testing.

archive: bullseye Sources files contain multiple versions of packages - why?

2020-10-02 Thread Christian Kastner
I happened to stumble over the fact that bullseye Sources files contain
numerous versions of some of the packages.

For example:

  $ wget http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/bullseye/main/source/Sources.gz

  $ zgrep -A 2 'Package: util-linux' Sources.gz | grep -v Binary
  Package: util-linux
  Version: 2.33.1-0.1
  --
  Package: util-linux
  Version: 2.34-0.1
  --
  Package: util-linux
  Version: 2.36-3

Those three versions happen to be the current versions from stable,
testing, and unstable. Does anyone know why these are all in this one file?
The version from unstable is the most surprising.
