Why? Isn't two enough?

If one or both aren't working for your setup, write a patch and file a
bug.

(Not counting generic file transfer clients.)

Any number of scripts which wrap generic file transfer clients exist -
dput and dupload for two.

The fundamental component of any Debian archive upload tool is going to
be essentially a rewrite of 'dcmd', so what's the point?

The essence of your (rather hostile) response is I don't know, so why bother
replying?

It wasn't meant to be hostile - the original query was unclear and
seemed, to me, to be proposing adding yet another new upload tool /
complaining about the existing tools in a rather nebulous manner,
rather than trying to identify packages which need bugs filed along the
lines of #647129 and #647130. It's always worth mentioning the reason
behind the query.

Thanks to Adam Barratt for clarifying the original question on IRC.

I actually read it entirely the opposite way around: I wondered why
they could possibly want another tool; and thought the most rational
explanation was that they were planning on rationalising things.

It's always worth mentioning the reason behind the query.

Agreed.

Thanks to Adam Barratt for clarifying the original question on IRC.

I did refer to the two bugs involved, but you snipped that bit:

#647129 and #647130.

Summary:
Upload tools may need changes to check for security uploads going to
the wrong upload location. Could be useful for backports and local
upload configs too.
