sms4you allows to forward messages between SMS and email or SMS and XMPP. Nice for people, who need to receive or send SMS, but do not like to carry a SIM. For email, any account accessible via IMAP and SMTP will do. For XMPP, you need to host your own server. The package will be maintained in the Debian XMPP team.
