I am having the same problem with a sources.list file that
reads as follows

#deb file:///cdrom/ sarge main

deb ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/debian/debian stable main
contrib non-free

#deb ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/debian/debian-security
stable updates

deb http://security.debian.org stable updates

The errors I am seeing in console when attempting to apt-get
update are listed below as well

Err http://security.debian.org stable/updates

W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct
these problems

E: Some index files failed to download, they have
been ignored, or old ones used instead.

That's hardly surprising, given that the path you've supplied doesn't - and
isn't expected to - exist. As http://www.debian.org/security/ says, it
should be:

deb http://security.debian.org/ sarge/updates main contrib non-free

(obviously contrib and non-free are optional, but (sarge|stable)/updates is
one stanza not two and you need at least one of (main|contrib|non-free)).

Cheers,

Adam

In article [EMAIL PROTECTED] you wrote:
On bugtraq recently itr was reported there were a number of bugs with

redhat have already patched this. Also there doesn't appear to be any security
information for either overdrop or nestea - new bugs both afflicting linux.

netsea has been fixed in 2.0.33-7. overdrop only fills up your syslog file
which can be done anyway (say via ICMP redirects).
