IMO the DHCP to-and-fro isn't needed; see my reply to #870795.

Either configure the network manually if already in the net behind the 
gateway's static interface or install the main server on the same 
network the gateway is connected to with the dhcp interface, then 
relocate to the 10.0.0.0/8 net.

Discussing with Holger some initial deployment issues of a Debian Edu  
site installation, we found that the setup of a proper Debian Edu  
gateway is not sufficiently documented.


Proposal:

  - use firewall appliance / distribution, recommended pfSense
  - two NICs, uplink configures via DHCP, downlink statically
configured as 10.0.0.1/8
  - firewall must not run a DHCP server at normal operation
  - currently, for netinst based TJENER installation, a DHCP
service must be temporarily provided on 10.0.0.1
  - after TJENER installation, that DHCP service must be disabled
and TJENER takes over serving DHCP to 10.0.0.0/8
