Bad news. It seems that gcc-3.0.3 (debian version 3.0.3-1) still
misscompiles this thing at -O2. As for the snapshot package, I

building the snapshot now, though.

not correctly serialized. Unfortunately I am not an expert in PPC
assembler but here is the code
