Once you get the SIGSEGV in gdb, please use the bt command to produce a full backtrace. Before generating another backtrace, please install http://packages.debian.org/lenny/libc6-dbg if possible. (Not sure if it will work with ldconfig broken.) Thank you for your effort so far. -- Boyd
