I choosed pl_PL ISO-8859-2 and en_US ISO-8859-1 (default). Now, /etc/locale.gen is: pl_PL ISO-8859-2 en_US ISO-8859-1 /etc/environement: #LANGUAGE="en_US" LANG=pl_PL /etc/default/locale: # File generated by update-locale LANG=en_US #LANGUAGE="en_US" I'm not sure about environement, because I choosed en_US as default, but the rest is looks ok to me. Is this realy ok ?

I do not understand how this can happen, it seems that LANG and LANGUAGE are mixed. Can you please post your /etc/default/locale and /etc/environment files? BTW if your settings were set to LANG=pl_PL LANGUAGE=en_EN:en_PL:en please unset LANGUAGE, it does no good here. > I've noticed am other unusual thing, but I don't know if it has anything to > do with this bug. > > /usr/share/locale/pl/charset contain UTF-8 This file does not come from the locales package. > In general I don't care for most bugs, but this one make subversion die which > I use, so this is a problem to me. > > If you need some more details on my system or something, I would be happy to > help. Bug#364121: locales can't be installed
Package: locales Version: 2.3.6-7 Severity: critical Justification: breaks unrelated software I can't upgrade my locales for few days now, I wanted to report it yesterday, but I saw someone already did it. But since you don't know yet what happend I thought my report may be usefull. I had two locales selected at install time en_EN ISO-8859-1 and pl_PL ISO-8859-2, but after one of my updates, pl_PL (in /etc/environement) chanded itselt to en_EN:en_PL:en. I've noticed am other unusual thing, but I don't know if it has anything to do with this bug. /usr/share/locale/pl/charset contain UTF-8 In general I don't care for most bugs, but this one make subversion die which I use, so this is a problem to me.
