1. stay with sysvinit
2. switch to OpenRC unconditionally
3. switch to Upstart unconditionally
4. switch to Upstart only if Linux uses it by default, otherwise OpenRC

Please rank the above putting your preferred option first, as per
Debian's usual Condorcet voting system.
Since 2.17-93 is already in testing, I guess it is fine for me to do
such upload?
Please do it, using current SVN.
kfreebsd-* will also benefit from such upload.
Thanks

Hi,
I do not know what is status of your libpthread implementation.
I just wanted to let you know, that (surprisingly) NPTL is not so
linuxish in all files ;-)

Hi,
the change in binutils might affect also hurd, as
eglibc-2.17/hurd/Versions:
GLIBC_2.0 {
# necessary for the Hurd brk implementation
_end;
}
Please recheck.

The last gmp upload failed to build on hurd-i386 and kfreebsd-i386
and I could use some help. The code builds but seven test cases
segfault [1]. Can someone help debug these and hopefully provide
a patch?
It crashes also for me inside kvm.
The key point seems be
Hello,
openoffice.org got support for GNU/kFreeBSD in 1:3.2.0-9.
The hurd is still not supported, but it shouldn't be too hard to
use kfreebsd patches (#578023) as hint what have to be adjusted
by hurd porters.
So I suggest to drop current openoffice.org line
%openoffice.org: !kfreebsd-amd64
so that maintainers could apply them to architecture-specific bugs when
necessary. The format, suggested by Steve Langasek, was to use the
porters mailinglist as the user, and the architecture name as the
usertag (e.g., 'debian-m...@lists.debian.org' as user, and 'm68k' as
tag).

reassign 489357 glibc 2.7-1
thanks
In fact the bug is in glibc, the __open_2 is a new symbol in glibc 2.7,
the fix should be made by appropriate porters. The fix for GNU/kFreeBSD
is already in both debian glibc-bsd and pkg-glibc svn, it should appear
in glibc 2.7-13.
Hurd porters, for
Hi,
there is available patch for GNU/kFreeBSD system
sufficient for all iceape, icedove, iceweasel and xulrunner packages.
All packages build and work. For details see #401401 in BTS.
It might concern hurd porters, as Port for hurd might be straightforward.
