I tried
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
on my Intel PIII testing system yesterday, and something seems to have
pushed out Blackdown j2re1.3, and tries to install jre1.1 instead.
A strange thing, is that it tries installing jre1.1 from the Blackdown
server where it doesn't find

I've just tried installing the j2sdk1.4 and j2re1.4 packages from a
blackdown mirror and got the following conflict with 1.3 which is
already installed.
Anyone else had this error and fixed it?
I don't want to remove j2sdk1.3 as it removes a load of other packages.
# apt-get install j2sdk1.4

Just an FYI:
Blackdown and Sun's 1.3.1 don't play well with libc 2.3.x.

It would be really cool if you made a .deb of the script(s) to convert
the .rpm to a .deb and install it (maybe even use wget to get it?).

Here is my quick and dirty patch to the script in the mpkg-j2sdk
package. To get the package, add the following to your sources.list:
deb http://www.stud.uni-karlsruhe.de/~ude2 debian/
(the javaselect package looks promising, but the author suggests you
don't use it)
The patch is attached.
