No, it's not a bug. Upgrading via metapackages is discouraged because you pull
too much bloat to your system in the process.
I suggest you wait until KDE SC 4.6 migrates to testing.

AFAIK, Akonadi (as of KDE SC 4.4) does not store much useful data. At the
moment, it's just cache, indexing stuff and maybe some metadata. So try
starting fresh.
