Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686
Version: 2.6.8-3
Severity: minor
During the installation, the path to the initial roodisk
image is reported to have a double slash in it.
The result of installing via apt-get is below:

A new kernel image has

After a seemingly normal install of kernel-image-2.6-686 over
kernel-image-2.4-686, I get the following checksum mismatches.
These were reported in the install, I think,
and are still there after reboot. See below:

The Debian 2.6 kernel does not recognize
an ethernet controller that the 2.4.27 kernel does.
It's a common, cheap card, and not too old,
so it would make sense to support it.

This is kernel-image-2.6.8-1-k7_2.6.8-4 ...
usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using
Package: kernel-image-2.6-686
Severity: normal
I have a debian system that normally runs kernel-image-2.4-686 ;
I put in kernel-image-2.6-686 as a test via
apt-get install kernel-image-2.6-686 .
Then, when I removed it later,
via
apt-get remove kernel-image-2.6-686
the package was removed, but
I also have the problem.
It would help a lot if someone could include a pointer to the appropriate
thread(s) on lkml, or to something else which explained the purported
security hole. I can't find a description of it anywhere.
