Hi,
I also added
MODULE ide-generic
MODULE ide-disk
to /etc/yaird/Default.cfg and the kernel booted again. Unfortunately,
DMA was disabled and I got several fat warnings about this while
booting. Adding
MODULE ide-core
MODULE
Hello,
i cannot activate DMA. Its a bit slow here.
These modules are loaded:
##
lsmod |egrep piix|generic|ide
piix 10436 0 [permanent]
generic 4356 0 [permanent]
ide_disk 18784 7
ide_generic 1216 0 [permanent]
ide_core
hdparm /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma= 0 (off)

Any ideas?
Saw that already yesterday. Seems to be an issue with the
linux-image-2-6-14-2-686 (2.6.14-5).

ide-generic was loaded before piix, making your ide bus a bit sluggish.
Put piix above ide-generic in the modules file, rebuild your initrd, and
reboot.
Hope that helps,

Yes, I added it to the title after finding out :). Michael Setzer
wrote, that adding
MODULE ide-generic
MODULE ide-disk
to /etc/yaird/Default.cfg makes it work. I could boot with that, but
DMA was disabled. I found out that manually adding piix reenables DMA
for me, so
