Package: kernel-image-2.6-k7
Version: 101sarge1
Severity: normal
This is for the package version from backports.org, so it might be a problem
with the backport.
I get a kernel crash reported in pageattr.c when I load ATI's proprietary
display driver (fglrx). It seems to come in two variations. I'
as upgrades work out if you touch that special conf file
i would propose to check against a version range in which
the sarge release falls and allow those an smooth upgrade
without running kernel check.
of course with a big warning that the user should reboot soonest.

The proposed solution in the previous post works for current Sarge stock
kernel 2.6.8-3-686-smp.
I have re-compiled from the source package changing just two options to
"y":
< CONFIG_IDE=m > CONFIG_IDE=y
< CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE=m > CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE=y
Current Ubuntu dapper kernels seems to use
I want to let you know that I solved the bug myself.
After updating the flash-bios the problem disappeared.
Maybe it's good to let everybody knows that it happens with the hardware:
Mainboard Asus A8V Deluxe
Processor Athlon 64 3000+
Thanks in advance!
