hi. i'm getting a kernel panic when using a serial console. log should
be attached. seems to work fine when booting with a regular console.
(also had this problem with linux-image-2.6.17-1-486 version 2.6.17-5).

Some startup scripts (e.g. cryptsetup) require user input during the
boot which means that usplash exits. It would be nice if user input
support could somehow be added to usplash.

I'm runing debian testing and have a udev-rule to prevent ehci from
loading at boot. It works with version 2.6.15 (testing) and 2.6.17
(unstable) but not with 2.6.16 (testing)

Starting with 2.6.18, the official kernels do not have the sysctl
syscall anymore [1] or rather it has been replaced by a dummy syscall
that always fail and print a message in the log, and thus the sysctl()
function will not work anymore.
