I have (not fully tested) patch to make mkinitramfs generate the image
for non-lvm cciss-based root too.
Previous patch only fixes situation with root on lvm-on-cciss_partition.
I have not tested the image, generated by patched mkinitramfs,
but I am sure, it was generated without error.

I'd just like to file a me too on this bug. I can confirm that
kacpid and kacpi_notify take ~90% of my CPU time together after I've
had the laptop suspended to RAM, and also that, when I try to suspend
to RAM again
