Bug#711135: Bughunting

2014-02-19 Thread Chris Collins
I’ve observed the same behaviour on my zx2000, but not on my rx2620 on which I was able to install wheezy without issue several months ago. Given that my 2620 only has two Madison 9Ms in it, I don’t think this is a CPU instruction/feature set issue but an Kernel/EFI interaction related one.

Bug#731016: Physical Workaround

2014-02-19 Thread Ido Halperin
Well, I finally found some workaround to that problem. I figured that the problem is with the USB bridge. It appears that the kernel can't deal this bridge. Maybe because it is a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed or it something to do with the ASMEDIA ASM1051 chip. Two LUN are recognized but the HDD LUN is

Bug#721871: i915: add quirk to invert backlight brightness

2014-02-19 Thread Emil Goode
Hello, I got a black screen with wheezy 3.2.55 kernel on a HP G62 Notebook, but the issue is resolved in kernel 3.12.9. Could you test the attached patch with kernel 3.2.55 that adds the invert brightness quirk? It seems that adding the quirk is the way to deal with this issue with older kernel

Boot hangs for me right after selecting the option from grub, the system will not respond and needs to be hard rebooted. Please ask if and how you need me to supply more debugging information.

Hi, See http://unix.stackexchange.com/a/115921/4671 I'm trying to backport 3.13 to wheezy, using instructions in the kernel handbook, namely http://kernel-handbook.alioth.debian.org/ch-common-tasks.html#s4.2.5. The main stumbling block seems to be (so far) that gcc 4.8 is required, indeed
