I am not able to reproduce this anymore either with mpv or (s)mplayer
(actually, in the previous post, vlc did not work using xv).
I am now running a 3.16.0-4-amd64 kernel (dmesg attached). I did not
test every release in between... I believe it was due to something
broken at one point in
