Would anyone be kind enough to provide recovery instructions for this
issue, for current state and/or when the newer linux-image are
available? Link to an appropriate man page qualify :)

In my case, the affected hardware is a Trident CyberbladeXP.
As reported by Sven Luther, since vesafb is no longer a module, adding
it to /etc/yaird/Default.cfg changes nothing. However, adding
MODULE fbcon
and rebuilding
