Thanks for that explanation. For that keyboard hook to do its work, KEYMAP=y needs to be set in the initramfs configuration (see the code of the hook itself). What can be done to set KEYMAP=y in a controlled manner from within the installer? The currently resulting KEYMAP=n does not work.
