Here is the patch that I am using on my slug to keep it bootable. Not perfect, but works ok.
The best explanation so far for why this issue only affects old-abi arm: http://lists.debian.org/debian-glibc/2007/05/msg00499.html Based on that, it doesn't seem that this is an issue that will be fixed in glibc. -- see shy jo
