It seems the problem comes from regulatory domain being set to US by default. A solution is to add something like /etc/modprobe.d/80211.conf containing the following : options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=EU I don't know if this shouldn't be set somehow from a configuration via debconf, though :-/
