I encountered the same issue on 3.2.0-4-amd64
dmesg : ath5k phy0: Atheros AR2425 chip
lspci : Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x / AR542x
Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
My solution :
Add
# Backports
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ wheezy-backports
Sorry, my mistake. Update was from 3.2.20 to 3.2.21.
I didn't mean if it private reply or not, but if you think this information
is important, I don't mine if you put it into bug tracker.

I find solution that helps to use wifi adapter with this kernel.
WiFi is working
I have the same exact symptoms, also started with
linux-image-3.2.0-3-amd64 but worked great with many prior 3.2 versions
including linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64.
