Bug#942836: snd_hda_intel: No response from codec, resetting bus

2019-10-22 Thread Stephan Lachnit
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.3.7-1
Severity: important

Kernel log says "snd_hda_intel :00:1f.3: No response from codec, resetting
bus: last cmd=0x20270500"
Audio playback doesn't work, pavucontrol reports that headphone are plugged in
even though they aren't.

The bug didn't appear before and the audio works normal when booting with the
5.2 linux series.
I should note that I modified the audio pin layout with hda-jack-retask since
the default ones are wrong configured for my device.

dpkg-mergechangelogs(1) is a nice helper for some of the merge
situations.

Re: Merge request friendly handling of debian/changelog

2019-10-22 Thread Sam Hartman
I agree that better handling of things like debian/changelog is
something we should focus effort on.

I think we can either do something gbp dch like, possibly allowing
commits to annotate whether and to what extent they should be included
in changelog.

Or some code that knows how to merge changelogs

Or some file based approach like you discuss.

I think exploring options like these and getting experience would be
great for Debian.

Bug#883194: please convert mountstats and nfsiostat scripts to Python3

I think they should already be compatible with python3 since 1.2.9 (or
1.3.1) if I'm looking at upstream git repository:

http://git.linux-nfs.org/?p=steved/nfs-utils.git;a=commitdiff;h=9f9289efda1a7eff26cd046997efc56c2de40534

http://git.linux-nfs.org/?p=steved/nfs-utils.git;a=commitdiff;h=1df82a36df74a59f55eea99d08612564fa22cbef

So it's just a matter of changing the shebang and the dependency.

Question, why is this a recommends? The executable is using python(3)
without any fallback mechanism I can understand that this is a "not
often use binary", but shouldn't that be changed to a Depends?

Bug#942881: Audio on Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th generation stopped working after upgrade to linux-image-5.3.0-1-amd64 ("No response from codec")

2019-10-22 Thread Josh Triplett
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.3.7-1
Severity: normal

After upgrading to linux-image-5.3.0-1-amd64, I get messages like those
seen in the log ("No response from codec, resetting bus" and "Unable to
sync register"), and eventually a WARN. The mixer doesn't show the audio
device at all.

This didn't happen with the previous kernel, namely:

It's a symlink in the package, but I forgot that we need to do a dir-

Bug#935969: linux-image-5.2.0-2-amd64: Missing firmware for new driver rtwpci

2019-10-22 Thread Andrea Palazzi
Package: firmware-realtek
Version: 20190717-2
Followup-For: Bug #935969

Hi,

The cause of the bug is that the rules.gen file does not include the rtw88
firmware files.
The attached patch solves the problem (at least for me).

Kind regards,
Andrea Palazzi

I can confirm the same behaviour with ThinkPad T25.

There seems to be a workaround:

options snd_hda_intel probe_mask=1

I'm not getting errors with this and audio works. I have a feeling that HDMI
audio will not work, however, because there's no "input: HDA Intel PCH HDMI"
in dmesg any more. :-(

Related to Linux uploads: I've added an exception to allow source-only

Bug#942903: libbpf library is from kernel source

2019-10-22 Thread Julia Kartseva
Package: libbpf-dev
Version: 5.3.7-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

libbpf-dev is currently packaged from kernel sources.
Please consider switching to GH mirror [1] so there are following advantages:
- Versioning is consistent with ABI
- GH mirror has CI tests
- Be consistent w/ other distros, e.g. Fedora which has already switched
to GH mirror in [2]
The whole rationale is in [3]

Thanks!

I removed the linux-image-* packages now built by src:linux-signed-*,
but I don't think these replace all binaries built by src:linux-latest
yet?

Please file a removal request if src:linux-latest and the packages
mentioned above should already be removed. I think it will otherwise
be reported as cruft later when the linux-*-rt-* packages are taken over
as well.
