Here's a patch that will make 'update-grub' give a warning if the
currently mounted root partition does not match kopts. Tested and seems to
work. Apply with cd /sbin; patch update-grub update-grub.patch

Having recently strange problems with booting SunBlade 150 / sparc64
machine, which has had Debian sarge + 2.4.27-2 kernel installed
I traced back these problems to initrd failure (I think).

disabling frame buffer support.
I played around with different console settings and the only config
that works correctly is:
