Bug#485704: DVD burn very slow.
On Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 12:52:35AM +0100, David Keegan wrote: Package: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686 Version: 2.6.24-7 Using this 2.6.24 kernel burning a DVD with growisofs. is very slow. I can't see any error messages. According to the trace the amount of data being written is tiny. It's unusable like this. A backup that normally takes 25m would take days to complete. When I revert to kernel 2.6.22 (changing nothing else) the DVD writes at normal speed. This was already reported as bug #463610 which has been archived. please try out 2.6.25 linux images from sid, they just install fine in testing. -- maks -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#485786: initramfs-tools: support for ide-generic for Lenny
Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.92b Severity: wishlist Tags: d-i Hi maks, I've been thinking a bit more about how we could support ide-generic for Lenny without loading it by default on systems that do not need it, but also avoiding /etc/i-t/modules which results in it being loaded first, thus potentially blocking other drivers. My suggestion is to include your old Etch script again, but to only actually run that if a (new) i-t config option is set. In D-I we could then load ide-generic pretty much as was done for Etch, and set that config option (in /etc/i-t/conf.d) _only if_ loading the driver actually resulted in new block devices being created. I'm not completely sure how etch-lenny upgrades for systems that need ide-generic could best be handled. They would also need to be able to set this config option somehow. Some options would be: - display a debconf note on upgrade if ide-generic is currently loaded and ask whether it should remain loaded - or better, if it is possible to see that ide-generic is actually in use, automatically set the config option only in that case - not do anything automatically, but support a boot parameter that will load it so that users can then set the config option manually - others? The issue should probably at least be mentioned in the Release Notes. What do you think? Cheers, FJP signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
Bug#485789: initramfs-tools: With crypted LVM, tries to start LVM before decryption
Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.92b Severity: normal Hi, I installed LennyBeta2 (under Qemu) with the graphical installer and chose crypted LVM. The thing is that on boot, the initramfs firstly tries to open (initiate ?) the LVM before it actually has access to it (because it is encrypted). It results in an error (attached) which could be avoided if the encrypted partition is opened before the LVM is initiated. Bug#485789: initramfs-tools: With crypted LVM, tries to start LVM before decryption
Adding Max Vozeler and David Härdeman to the CC. * Didier Raboud [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2008-06-11 15:06]: Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.92b Severity: normal Hi, I installed LennyBeta2 (under Qemu) with the graphical installer and chose crypted LVM. The thing is that on boot, the initramfs firstly tries to open (initiate ?) the LVM before it actually has access to it (because it is encrypted). It results in an error (attached) which could be avoided if the encrypted partition is opened before the LVM is initiated. Bug#485873: linux-image-2.6.25-2-686: fails to suspend to ram (hangs when Suspending console(s))
Package: linux-image-2.6.25-2-686 Version: 2.6.25-4 Severity: normal Hi, * steps to reproduce: - start the computer (Thinkpad T42) - login (console mode) - sudo s2ram * result: the screen becomes black, then displays 3 lines, the last one being: Suspending console(s) It hangs at this point. I can switch to the consoles (Alt+F1...F6). I can type things in the first console (I get a blinking cursor), nothing in the others, and none of them reacts. Once I've switched to one of the consoles, I can't go back to the Suspending console(s) screen. My logs are empty. I have to hard-reboot the computer. It definitely hangs *before* suspending (so this is not a problem of can't wakeup but rather something like can't suspend). FWIW, suspend-to-ram works fine with linux-image-2.6.18-4-686 on my computer. Sadly, I can't figure out exactly when it stopped working. I'm willing to investigate this issue further but I don't have any idea of what I could try. Could you provide me some hints?
