it was added for kernel-package as some guy wanted still to use initrd-tools.
next initramfs-tools upload will emit a warning when it is used.
i'll change linux-2.6 trunk to properly call update-initramfs.
as it already does for xen images.

I'm currently testing the Xen features of the new 2.6.26 kernel. I do this
usingVMware workstation.
I tested two scenarios:
* running 2.6.26 as a Dom0 kernel
* running 2.6.26 as a DomU kernel (using the Etch Xen kernel

tried to reproduce your bug by using dash on a fresh Lenny install
and couldn't reproduce.
udev *always* landed on the initramfs.
so it seems more that the box you run on was broken in some way.

now that's Lenny is out I'd like to migrate virtualbox-ose-modules from
experimental to sid. As agreed upon we have a new source package similar to lme
that only builds virtualbox-soe modules. With the binary packages getting the
same name I wonder what's the best way to migrate? Upload a lme
