Bug#864529: firmware-amd-graphics: missing firmware for AMD Radeon RX 560,570,580

2017-06-09 Thread Christian Lamparter
Package: firmware-amd-graphics
Version: 20161130-3
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

the new AMD Radeon RX 560 is currently missing a important firmware file:
/lib/firmware/amdgpu/polaris11_k_smc.bin (RX 560)
/lib/firmware/amdgpu/polaris10_k_smc.bin (RX 570, RX 580)

This firmware was added to linux-firmware.git back in February 2017:

|amdgpu: add smc firmware for new polaris variants
|from internal git commit:

Adding the firmware file manually into /lib/firmware/amdgpu
and loading amdgpu module does work as expected. The driver loads
and the GFX card has surprisingly good support. (No really!)

Thanks,
Christian Lamparter

Dear Maintainer,

irtual server with 3 network adapters randomly fails to add one of ethX at the
boot time with errors:

FWIW the FTBFS of radvd has been fixed.
Indeed by dropping linux/if_arp.h in favour of net/if_arp.h

I intend to drop the kernel patch that triggered this regression in the
first update for stretch.

It is easier to write an incorrect program than to understand a correct
one.

Bug#846950: propagate GSSDARGS

2017-06-09 Thread Christoph Martin
The same issue is for GSSDARGS which is used starting rpc.gssd according
to /lib/systemd/system/rpc-gssd.service .

/usr/lib/systemd/scripts/nfs-utils_env.sh talks in a comment about
RPCGSSDARGS in contrast but does not expose either variable.

rpc.gssd needs the -l option to be used with kerberized NFS on Netapp
filers.

Bug#832513: rpc.idmapd not needed on NFSv4 clients on recent kernels

2017-06-09 Thread Christoph Martin
Hi,

I found the following inthe manpage of rpc.idmapd:

Note that on more recent kernels only the NFSv4 server uses rpc.idmapd.
The NFSv4 client instead uses nfsidmap(8), and only falls back to
rpc.idmapd if there was a problem running the nfsidmap(8) program.

So, it is ok that rpc.idmapd is not started on clients and I think you
might close these bugs.

Regards
Christoph
