I just root caused an issue w/ the same symptom on ia64. Turns out
the bootloader was passing a bloated initrd_size option to the kernel.
Since initramfs is known to work on x86 w/ other bootloaders, I'm
thinking qemu maybe doing the same thing.

with either the !CAP_UNIX patch, or a NEWS.Debian that warns users of

ship with 2.6.18, 2.6.17 packages are no longer maintained.

freezes for etch, feel free to open another bug requesting a
backport. Be sure to explain why you believe doing this backport is a
good idea (more supported hardware? bug fix? new feature?)
