Installing the new kernel linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-4_arm.deb
seems to have fixed the crashing problem. The box has been running through
since Feb. 28 without a crash.
I'm still getting error messages like this about once a day:
Mar 12 19:50:03 slug kernel: Bad page state in process
Sorry, I meant:
wget
http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-4_arm.deb
sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-4_arm.deb
sudo reboot
Ok, done. Will report results.

Hello Martin,
Just to make sure: You suggest upgrading to 2.6.24, but the package to
download is 2.6.22?
sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.22-3-ixp4xx_2.6.22-6_arm.deb
Anyway, just did the upgrade following your instructions. Will inform you
if there are more crashes.
Regards, Richard

Hi Martin,
thank you very much for looking into my problem.
Could you try to upgrade to the 2.6.24 kernel from sid? Basically, I
recommend you first make a backup of your flash content so you can go
back to your current kernel in case the upgrade to 2.6.24 fails. Do:
cat /dev/mtdblock?
Package: kernel
Version: 2.6.18-6-ixp4xx
Severity: Important
I'm running the latest version of Debian on a Linksys NSLU2 with a 2GB USB
stick as mass storage and a pl2303 based USB-to-serial adapter attached.
The box crashes at least once a day, and I find messages like this in
kern.log:
Feb 19
