Package:usplash Version: 0.3e Usertags: debian-edu@lists.debian.org usplash fail at boot with the error bogl_init failed: /dev/fb0 no such file or directory I am not sure what should be responsible for creating that device at boottime, but this worked for me. adding a line saying "mknod /
