I found a nice little utility called tpconfig with apt-cache search once I knew that the term of reference was "synaptic". it stops the tapping nicely c

If you have a Synaptics TouchPad, you may try the specific driver from http://www.mobilix.org/touchpad_driver.html if your laptop is supported (or even if it is not: my laptop is a Presario EA 711 and it works more or less: I have had several problems restarting X with this driver, so I have reverted to the default driver from XFree). Re: stopping the touch pad from 'clicking'
i should have specified, but i hoped there might be an option in the XF86Config-4 file to do it generically. i've got a vaio-srx87, so a vaio basically. someone mentioned gpm support and i'll scratch my head about that tonight. i never even knew you could use gpm to control the mouse in X. ain't linux well designed. c On Monday 27 January 2003 11:48 pm, Jamie Wilkinson wrote: > This one time, at band camp, Caoilte O'Connor wrote: > >sry, this has probably been asked a million times before but is there any > > way to stop the touchpad from being used as a mouse button when tapped > > under X? > > Depends on your laptop; on a PowerBook G4, try: > > /sbin/trackpad notap > > from the powerpc-utils package. > > -- > [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://people.debian.org/~jaq
