Package: debhelper
Version: 4.0.2
Severity: wishlist

Aren't dev packages supposed to contain the SONAME:

libfoo0-dev  (rather than libfoo-dev)

And then:

Conflicts: libfoo-dev
Provides: libfoo-dev

At least this is what the libpkg-guide says.

 At least this is what the libpkg-guide says.

Why is this bug report filed on debhelper, which merely uses whatever
package names you give it?

To answer your question, it is appropriate to use libfoo-dev as a
package name if you intend to only ever support installing one version
of a -dev package at a time. Since it's easy enough to work things out
later if you change your mind (by introducing a libfoo2-dev), I'd
recommend starting with libfoo-dev, but that is up to the discretion of
the individual maintainer.

See policy 11.3, paragraph 3. I don't know what this libpkg-guide is,
but it needs to be fixed to not contradict policy.

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor to upload this NMU, fixing the RC bug #652700.
The changes are on a mininum invasive bases, so only the bug is fixed and the
standard bumped as there were no changes necessary.
Monty Taylor, the current maintainer is not responsive.

It builds those binary packages:

libhaildb-dbg - Library implementing InnoDB-like database - debug symbols
 libhaildb-dev - Library implementing InnoDB-like database - dev files
 libhaildb6 - Library implementing InnoDB-like database - shared library

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/haildb

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/h/haildb/haildb_2.3.2-1.1.dsc

Changes:

haildb (2.3.2-1.1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Add build-depend on libcloog-ppl-dev (Closes: #652700)
  * Update standards version to 3.9.2, no changes required

Hi,

I uploaded the package, though there is still a minor nitpick: please
use GPL-2+ (LGPL-2.1+) as the license identifier in d/copyright. It
currently says just GPL-2 (LGPL-2.1) even though later versions are
also okay as mentioned in the license statement below.

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor to upload this QA upload, fixing bug #658098.
The urgency is marked as high because upgrade or installation of
apt-build will fail with a debconf priority level higher then medium
(debconf priority level high is default).

It builds this binary package:

  apt-build - frontend to apt to build, optimize and install packages

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

Changes since the last upload:

apt-build (0.12.40) unstable; urgency=high

  * QA upload.
  * Prevent error if debconf cannot display questions. Closes: #658098

Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: important

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package hiredis, since my previous
sponsor is not responding to my emails.

It builds these binary packages:

libhiredis-dev - Minimalistic C client library for Redis (development files)
libhiredis0.10 - Minimalistic C client library for Redis

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/h/hiredis/hiredis_0.10.1-4.dsc

Changes since the last upload:

 hiredis (0.10.1-4) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Add -f flag to rm in dh_auto_test override (Closes: #650800)
   * Enable tests on sparc, since redis-server does not segfaults anymore
 (see #647627)
   * Build depends on redis-server = 2:2.4.2-2 on sparc to get segfault fix
   * Do not use -ggdb option (Closes: #657580)

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Cheers

Uploaded, thanks for your quick bugfixes.

Some minor or purely aesthetic remarks:
- the short description should start with a small letter
- in d/rules you could use GNU make's $(RM) instead of rm -f
- in d/copyright you should bump the years of packaging copyright
- the years of upstream copyright also partly extend to 2011

Cheers,
gregor

It builds these binary packages:

xclip - command line interface to X selections

Changes since the last upload:

 xclip (0.12+svn84-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   [ Maximilian Gass ]
   * New release from upstream Subversion, as suggested by him in private
 mail (closes: #601079)
   * Add dh-autoreconf to Build-Depends and debian/rules
   * Switch to source format 3.0 (quilt)
   * Bump debhelper compat to v8
 .
   [ Alessandro Ghedini ]
   * New maintainer (Closes: #657329)
   * Remove debian/README.source (not needed with 3.0 (quilt))

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Thanks,

Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package surf. This package is
orphaned and I've prepared a QA upload for the same. The package can
be downloaded with

  dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/surf/surf_0.4.1-5.dsc

This package builds without any lintian warnings. Below is the changelog

surf (0.4.1-5) unstable; urgency=low

  * QA upload.
  * debian/control:
+ Bumped Standards-Version to 3.9.2
+ Vcs-* fields now point to collab-maint repository
  * debian/watch:
+ Introduced watch file
  * debian/surf.postinst:
+ Reduced the update-alternative priority to 30 as per request from user
  to the previous maintainer
  * debian/rules:
+ Introduced dpkg-buildflags by patching config.mk with
dpkg-buildflags.patch
  * debian/source/local-options:
+ Introduced local-options to undo the patches

If some one can upload the same for me it would be really helpful.

Hi,
following [0], first upload has to be sponsored.
Could anyone please upload sweethome3d and sunflow to backports for me?

http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/sunflow/sunflow_0.07.2.svn396+dfsg-9~bpo60+1.dsc
[sweethome3d link is missing, uploaded to mentors but I got no response
and it's not in package list]

At the moment, you can pick them up both on backports.d.o under
pub/UploadQueue because of my uploads without sponsor.

Thanks.

Dear mentors,

NMU for package goplay is looking for a sponsor.

#
 GoPlay! is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that uses DebTags for easily
 finding games in Debian. The program uses FLTK for handling the widgets,
 and libept as the backend for retrieving the data.
 .
 GoPlay! is also a generic yet simple to use DebTags-based package browser.
 Prepackaged browsers GoLearn!, GoAdmin!, GoNet!, GoOffice!, GoSafe!, GoWeb!
 and GoScience! show applications (and for some of them also documentation)
 packages related to education, administration, network, office, safety, web
 and science. You can also roll your own custom browsers using commandline
 options.

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package python-gnatpython.

 * Package name: python-gnatpython
   Version : 54-1
   Upstream Author : AdaCore sa...@adacore.com
 * URL : http://forge.open-do.org/projects/gnatpython
 * License : GPL-2+ and GPL-3+
   Section : python

It builds those binary packages:

python-gnatpython - python framework to ease development of test suites
python-gnatpython-doc - python framework to ease development of test
suites (examples)

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/python-gnatpython

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/python-gnatpython/python-gnatpython_54-1.dsc

This new package is a build dependency for the polyorb package.

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.
It is my first python package and I have followed most advices from
Jakub Wilk [1], Simon Chopin [2], Eugeniy Meshcheryakov [3], Stefano
Rivera [4] and Nicolas Boulenguez thanks to them.

After the following lintian command :
lintian --pedantic -EI python-gnatpython_54-1_amd64.changes
the package still presents the following P comments :
P: python-gnatpython: no-upstream-changelog
P: python-gnatpython-doc: no-upstream-changelog
Since there isn't any changelog in upstream I don't know how to fix
these comments or if it worth's a lintian overrides.

Kind regards,

Grave Xavier

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package vpnc:

dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/v/vpnc/vpnc_0.5.3r512-1.dsc
http://mentors.debian.net/package/vpnc

Version 0.5.3r512-1 is the first new upstream version (SVN snapshot,
upstream hasn't done releases in a long time) uploaded to Debian in
almost two years. It includes mainly bugfixes, particularly for routing
issues, and I expect to be able to close a lot more bugs than those
already in the changelog after triaging with this new version:

vpnc (0.5.3r512-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Imported new upstream SVN snapshot with support for Fritz!Box routers
(closes: #629646), fixed MTU when no default route (closes: #525389).
  * Refreshed patches, dropped 07_bug496718.patch, 08_bug640978.patch
(applied upstream).
  * Added missing ${perl:Depends}.
  * Updated debian/copyright to reflect recent work in SVN.
  * Updated README.Debian, clarified security warning (closes: #442629).
  * Properly remove obsolete conffile example.conf on upgrade.

A previous upload of vpnc was sponsored by its former maintainer, Eric
Warmenhoven, who nevertheless indicated that he might not have the time
to do so in the future, and that I should seek additional sponsorship.
As he apparently hasn't found time to look at vpnc in over three weeks,
I'm now filing this sponsorship-request to ask for your comments and
review.

Florian

Great.

 I don't know of any planned releases, but I suspect the active

Nice.

Exactly, sorry for being unclear.

  - debian/copyright: mismatch between GPL-2+ and version 1 ...
GPL-1.
 uh, I wonder where I mis-copy-pasted that paragraph from... :-O

I have a hunch :)

  - debhelper 9 might (or might not, I haven't checked) pass more
hardening *FLAGS down to the build system?
  - Similar: The package doesn't seem to honour DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=noopt.
 dh 9 does in fact pass extra hardening options to gcc, and also honours
 DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS (and produces lots of ignored-return-value warnings).
 I bumped the dh compat level.

Thanks.

  - mk-version: 6: mk-version: Syntax error: ( unexpected
looks a bit ugly (only triggered by dash, not by bash or zsh, and
checkbashisms also whines), and it leads to
-DVERSION=\\ in the gcc calls.
 ...and an empty version string for vpnc --version. That's indeed ugly! I
 had somehow thought it would just use the latest upstream release
 version without any SVN revision, and postponed the investigation, so
 thanks for spotting this!
 I'll email upstream about the bashisms (probably easiest to just switch
 the interpreter to /bin/bash), and patched the Makefile to take the full
 upstream version string from dpkg-parsechangelog.

Looks good, thank you.

  (If you have the package in git somewhere reviewing future changes
  would be more convenient for me :))
 of course!
 https://github.com/fschlich/Debian-vpnc or rather
 git clone git://github.com/fschlich/Debian-vpnc.git vpnc

Very nice, looking at the diffs of single commits is much easier!

And uploaded.

Cheers,
gregor

 I can dput it correctly and git repo is already updated and tagged.

I did upload the package, please make sure it works correctly. The Git
repository still looks outdated, at least the squeeze-backports branch:

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-flash/gnash.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/squeeze-backports

The last change is from 2011-08-04. Maybe you forgot to push the
changes?

Regards,
Ansgar
