Using ccache with git-buildpackage

Hello. I use git-buildpackage and want to use ccache. I tried exporting overriden CC and PATH, but that had no effect and `echo' in debian/rules shows that both variables are reverted to the defaults. Does git-buildpackage clear the environment? How can I use ccache in this configuration? --
